We have updated our guidance to healthcare professionals on the management of patients with Ebola virus in Denmark.

The updated guidance specifies how emergency service doctors, emergency rooms and ambulances must manage patients suspected of having Ebola virus disease.

The guidance also describes the protective equipment that staff must use and the procedures to apply for contact with people suspected of having Ebola virus disease. Moreover, the guidance provides more information about the risk of infection, the tracking of contacts and precautions to take if several persons have become infected.

The guidance from October 2014 replaces the guidance issued on 8 August 2014 to hospitals, prehospital organisations, general practitioners, emergency service doctors etc. We have updated the guidance to give answers to healthcare professionals’ questions arising from the international experience.

We have also issued information to authorities and companies outside the healthcare sector with answers to a number of frequently asked questions about Ebola virus disease, the risk of infection in Denmark, and what to do if a person is suspected of being infected with Ebola virus.
