Christian Schneider, Medical Head of Division, has been appointed new director of the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC), which is located north of London, England.
Christian Schneider has worked with the Danish Health and Medicines Authority since 2011 and took up the position as Medical Head of Division in Medicines Licensing & Availability in December 2013.
Christian Schneider will say goodbye to both the Danish Health and Medicines Authority and Denmark and will get a unique opportunity to use his experience with a broad range of biological products as director of NIBSC. NIBSC is a centre of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in the UK.
From 2007 to 2011, Christian Schneider was a co-opted member of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and in 2014-15 (until August 2015) he was the Alternate Member for Denmark of CHMP. From 2009 to 2013, Christian Schneider was chairman of the Committee for Advanced Therapies and he now chairs the Biosimilar Medicinal Products Working Party at EMA.
With Christian Schneider's job change to NIBSC, we will lose a very competent and well-liked colleague, the Board of Directors finds. However, we have highly skilled employees with great expertise in the pharmaceutical area who are able to make up for the expertise we now lose. The future international profile of the new Danish Medicines Agency will be determined in dialogue with the department and the new director of the Danish Medicines Agency, when appointed.
Christian Schneider will join NIBSC on 1 January 2016.
